Marcie Haines is a 16-year-old athlete who shares an unbreakable bond with her twin brother Michael. Their close bond often leaves their mother Leonore feeling excluded from their world.
On the day of a big race for Marcie, Michael is tragically hit and killed by a car.
Unable to accept her brother’s death, Marcie becomes convinced that he is still alive.
The family then begins the “Nine Nights” ritual, a Caribbean mourning ceremony designed to help the living release the dead. As the nights progress, Marcie begins to hear whispers and sense Michael’s presence, sending her into a spiral of paranoia. This descent reveals long-buried family secrets and threatens to tear their bond apart.
